INTRODUCTION

This 2-day adventure will see you spending 2 days travelling in open canoes, stand up paddleboards or kayaks, as well as developing your paddling skills on one of the most beautiful rivers and coastline in Devon. With most our overnight adventures you can opt to include either wild camping with our Wild Style journeys or local accommodation in a suitable and approved hotel or B&B with our Lux and Leisure packages.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

You will start your adventure with coaching from your qualified and experienced instructor, learning different techniques before heading off on your adventure. Choose from the following journeys for your adventure:

Option 1- River Exe Wild Style. Starting in the city of Exeter you will take on the weirs and paddle down the river Exe, navigating the waterways until you reach Turf Locks. You can choose to stop off for a drink before continuing your journey to your secluded, wild camping spot on the water’s edge. You will pitch you tent (this can be provided) before tucking into your evening meal. (Your lunch and dinner on day one and breakfast on day 2 is included). With a clear night, this is an amazing area to see the stars at night.  Waking up the following morning, you might choose to don your swimmers for a dip in the water before launching the boats, heading up the estuary and canal toward Exeter where your journey will be completed.

Option 2- River Exe Lux and Leisure. Starting in the city of Exeter your coach will work with you to ensure you have the skills required to take on the weirs and paddle down the river Exe, navigating the waterways until you reach Turf Locks. (approximately 10 km). Here you will either pitch your tent in the grounds of Turf Locks or check in to your B&B, yurt or shepards hut. You will have access to washing facilities as well access to the pub for the evening. After settling in, you can choose to stretch your legs and continue the journey out toward the sea along the coastal path before returning for your evening meal at Turf Locks. Your Westcountry Adventure coach will arrange your start time for the following day, so you can decamp, pack and have breakfast in good time. Launching the boats, you will then be heading up the canal toward Exeter where your journey will be completed. If tides permit and you want to extend your journey, you can choose to head out toward to sea for a longer day.
